» Feature Writer Barbara Rogers - VIP Registered Traveler Program

Hi Bridget--
I think you are spot on. There is no guarantee that joining any of these programs will accomplish anything more than make your wallet lighter and easier to carry. And in the larger sense of what's right, how does having security personnel diverted from the regular lines to the special fast ones affect airport jam-ups and the traveling public as a whole? Not affirmatively, I suspect.

Hi Barbara!

Now, I see, the TSA has lowered the price of the Registered Traveler program by almost half. That means, more Registered Travelers, so more resources diverted from corraling us Joe Schmoes through security, resulting in - probably - fewer and therefore longer Joe Schmoe lines.

Doesn't it seem like just herding everyone through more quickly would be a better use of resources?

Also, because there are no guarantees about quicker service with the Registered Traveler program, those passengers are still probably going to have to show up pretty early meaning they'll just have more time waiting at their gates.

I don't get it.

Bridget
